Attribute Temples
Posted: Mon Jan 08, 2018 7:27 pm
Special "Temple" levels in the tower are located on floor levels that are powers of 10, and each is aligned with an attribute (e.g. strength, charisma). The temples house altars aligned with all known divinities and domains, as well as a mirror altar and an altar with a large, dark, empty hole (void). Meditation at each of these altars, with the exception of the Void, results in a character living out another life. The setting for the life is based on a challenge related to the nature of the altar and the attribute with which the temple is aligned. These alternate lives provide rewards based on the attribute alignment of the temple, the nature of the altar engaged, and the quality of a character's performance in their alternate life. Only a single altar may be visited for any given level.

Void Feats and Altars
Upon delving into the void, the character’s soul becomes linked to the void. From that point on, if the character dies, returning her to life proves to be more difficult. Any spellcaster who attempts to bring the character back from the dead must attempt a caster level check (DC = 10 + the slain character’s Hit Dice). Success means the spell functions as normal, while failure means the spell fails and cannot be attempted again for 24 hours.
Upon taking a second Void feat or visiting a second void altar, the character becomes even more connected to the void. She remains difficult to return from the dead (as noted above), and he can’t be affected by breath of life or raise dead. Also, the character’s alignment shifts to neutral or chaotic.
Upon taking the third Void feat or visiting a third void altar. She is affected as previously noted, and in addition, the spell resurrection no longer affects her. The character’s alignment shifts to neutral or evil.
Finally, upon taking a fourth Void feator visiting a fourth void altar , the character can no longer be returned from the dead by any method short of a wish or miracle. The character's alignment shifts one step toward chaotic or evil.
