Knights: IC-Location and Character List (a work in progress)

Post by rydi »

NPC and Location Info

The information listed first is for the game as it stood at the beginning of ’05. Some updates have been made, but this is still a work in progress.

Locations

The Starlight: Primary Elysium where meetings are held, and owned by Anita Fallin. It is a 1940’s nightclub, and is used mostly by the elders, their childer, and those inclined to a more quite unlife.
2007 update: After the past several years of combat, during which the Starlight recieved major damage, Anita has decided to make a few changes to the club. The biggest change has been a not so subtle suggestion that her club not be used as the city's primary elysium any longer, though it is still available to those wishing to relax, partake of a bit of live music, and pay the club's rather high prices. Anita also has renovated the Starlight a bit, adding a few modern touches, and occassionally allowing singers outside of her normally preferred styles.

The Marriot: The Top floor is rented out and serves as a dance club, catering to vampires and any other supernatural that happens by. It serves as a secondary Elysium. It is used primarily by the younger kindred and often there is a great deal of partying that occurs there.
2007 update: The Marriot elysium is no more. During the final nights of the 2005 Sabbat war, the entire top floor was destroyed in a fire, and many of the younger kindred were kidnapped or killed. The clientele still left alive after that horrible night tend to gather in smaller groups at various bars and clubs around the city, such as the Rant or the Cliche.

The Rant: A small bar in lost the urban decay of the city, the Rant is filled with stained, ripped and partially broken furniture, most of which looks as though it was bought from hotel wholesalers and is mismatched. The floors and walls, were the lights ever turned up, would show similar disrepair, but in the dim lighting they merely feel... sticky. The clientelle is mostly lower class, rough, and heavily into either rock, punk, or both. Music is played almost constantly on an old juke box that has an antiquated speaker system spliced into it, while drinks are served by Tina or just pulled from behind the bar by the regulars. A back room allows the owner, Kafka Durden, and any of his guests, to have private conversation, while a locked refrigerator allows for the storage of vitae to serve the kindred that frequent the bar.

Characters

Kindred

Ventrue

(Prince) Claudius: A powerful man of indeterminate age (physically he is between 40 and 50, but there are hints he is extremely old). He walks and speaks with military precision, rules fairly, and expects to be obeyed. He is only 5’5”, but is well muscled, has brownish blond hair that is always cut extremely short, and a small beard. He generally wears a suit, though he often takes of the jacket and roles up the sleaves; he sometimes seems to be uncomfortable with the trappings of the ‘civilized’ world.
2007 update: After the violence of the Sabbat war, in which several of his good friends died, a mysterious journey from which he came back depressed and withdrawn, and a staged death to draw out the technocratic invaders in 2006, Claudius finally tired of the burden of ruling the city. After ensuring that everything was in order, the Prince took his leave, along with his seneschal Tessa Anders, and has not been seen in court since, though it is quite possible he is still in touch with the primogen council.

(Ventrue Primogen-deceased) Mr. Davis: Originally a lawyer, Mr. Davis continued the maintenance of his law firm after his embrace somewhere in his 50's. He has a great deal of law, beuraucracy, and underworld influence, and is willing to do favors if the price is right. Davis mostly keeps to himself, and does little for his clan aside from serving as middle management, as Claudius is the true power behind the Ventrue in the city.
2007 update: Davis died in 2005, his heart ripped out by Zeke's claws, upon the discovery that he was behind Tony D'Angelo's death. He is still a name of importance however, as the details of Tony's death are under heavy scrutiny.

(Ventrue Primogen) Lucretia Rennade: An older woman, Lucretia was embraced in her early 60's, but the combination of vampiric vitae and ridiculous sums of money with which to keep up her appearance when she was mortal make her look much better than her age would suggest. Lucretia replaced Davis as primogen of the Ventrue soon after coming to the city, and since then has made many allies amongst the other clans. Where Davis was cold and aloof, Lucretia has been personable, taking kindred from most of the other clans as close confidantes and aids, and has worked to help the city as a whole from the time she arrived. She may have spread herself a bit thin however, as her control over her clan seems to be slipping, and one of her recent corporate aquisitions has been giving her a bit of unexpected grief.

Ian:

Tremere
Seneschal/Tremere Primogen) Tessa Anders: Orderly, industrious, and in charge of a ridiculous amount of the city, Tessa is both highly competent and extremely powerful. Though a Tremere, she gained the trust of Claudius in the 80’s Sabbat raid when she chose to use her magical abilities to defend the city (rather than hiding as the rest of the Tremere did). She has one childe, who she relies upon for much of her errands. She is 5’4”, 120 pounds, has long black hair usually worn in a bun, and sharp, aquiline features. Most consider her both very beautiful, and very unpleasant. She is usually in a business suit, and though not usually hostile, is generally curt to the point of rudeness. Her age is unknown, but looks to be in her 20’s
2007 update: Tessa left the city in the comany of the former prince, Claudius. Her childe, in a strange turn of events, took of the position of prince, leaving some to wonder if she is still playing politics behind the scenes, especially since the new prince seems to have a few unressolved emotions toward his sire.

(Prince) Jacob: Tessa’s childe, errand boy for the Camarilla, and go-between for the Eastern Kindred, Jacob barely has time to do anything for himself. Though young he has become a fixture in kindred life, but has surprisingly garnered little political power.
2007 update: Jacob, the lawyer turned errand boy turned diplomat turned magus, has now assumed the mantel of prince after only a few short decades of unlife. After a meeting of the primogen council, it was decided that Jacob would rule, though many question the wisdom of the decision, and where the power in the city actually rests. Some claim that the Nosferatu primogen and seneschal Nick is the true power behind the throne, some assume the primogen council uses Jacob as thier puppet, and others claim Tessa still controls her child from afar. Whatever the case, the childe seems not to have fallen far from the tree, as he has taken on a business-like, cold, and forceful approach to fulfilling his duties as prince, and seem rather unconscerned with the many feathers he ruffles with his decisions. Will the young kindred last as prince? None know for sure, but elders both in city and across the camarilla are participating in betting pools, wagering boons, resources, and influences, on how long he will actually hold the position...

Mallory:

Stone:

Sasha:

Gangrel
(Gangrel representative/Sheriff) Zeke: Zeke is a rugged looking man, with constant stubble, dirty brown hair, a blank expression, and grey-green eyes that dart about frequently, seemingly always looking for trouble. He is 5’6”, 180lbs, wears a faded leather jacket, torn jeans, old T-shirt, has a shrapnel scar on left wrist, and bullet wounds on his chest. He doesn’t talk a great deal, and only the prince knows exactly who he is. He simply showed up in the city in the late 70’s and became sheriff shortly after. He is made fun of a lot for his lack of class and bad accent that borders on a speech impediment, but never to his face as he is a damned good fighter. He reports only to the prince, and during the current war is one of the key front line soldiers.
2007 update: After his short period as prince, during which he played a crucial role in ending the 2005 Sabbat war, Zeke has been seen much less. Never one for politics, the sherrif still performs his duties, but seldom makes appearances at court. When not performing his job, several people have reported seeing him ranging the borders of the city, occassionally visiting bars in less affluent neighborhoods, or simply watching the animals at the city zoo after hours.

Brujah
(Brujah Primogen-deceased) Tony D’Angelo: Tony is a large, imposing Italian man with black hair, blue eyes, and a goatee/mustache. He is 6’5’’, 240lbs and looks to be somewhere around his late 30’s though he is known to have been embraced at the turn of the century. Wears a suit and tie in business meetings, wears a sports jacket with a nice, colored dress shirt open at the throat and a gold chain when he is off work. He is in charge of most of the city’s crime, though oddly he tries to keep it mostly clean (the heroin on the streets and gangland shootings are generally Giovanni and Setite work). The prince seems to trust Tony a great deal and they often spend evenings at the Starlight talking together. He is usually very polite, and approachable, though he sometimes becomes rather heated in meetings.
2007 update: Tony tragically died during the early days of the Sabbat war of 2005, right after assuming the position of temporary prince, due to the machinations of the then Ventrue primogen Mr. Davis, who had made deals with the Sabbat, the Giovanni, and an Assamite assassin to remove Tony from power. The details surrounding Tony's death, and those responsible, are still murky at best, and both his childe, the detective Bri Trudair, and his powerful sire, Marion, are attempting to find out what really happened.

(Brujah Primogen)Tony: Not to be confused with the primogen of the Brujah, this Tony is of the same clan as, and is a primary enforcer for, that Tony. Confuses everyone.
2007 update: Tony has now assumed the position of Primogen for his clan, and few still confuse him with his former boss, now that Mr. D'Angelo is dead. Having been merely a mob enforcer, both in life and unlife, who did what he was told, played up the itallian mafia mystique, and left his job behind at the end of the night to have a good time at the clubs during his time off, Tony is having a bit of trouble adjusting to the realities of life as the head of crime and of clan Brujah within the city. His job is made only more difficult by his strange on again, off again relationship with the Ravnos traveller Rose, who has angered several individuals within his own clan and others, and a new rival to his power, Kafka Durden, who seems to be consolidating the younger Brujah and Gangrel under his banner, and who is picking up large amounts of street influence. But despite his problems, Tony has managed to keep a positive demeanor and seems to be genuinely enjoying himself, and if his volatile love life, violent career choice, mercurial clanmates, or powerful rivals don't kill him, Tony has the makings of a productive and worthwhile primogen.

Tina: Works at the Marriot Elysium as a waitress, she flirts with everyone, and…gets around. She seems to have made an art out of spending her unlife having fun.
2007 update: Still living the same old unlife she lived since the 1980's (which is where most of her wardrobe is still from), Tina waits tables and bartends at the Rant now that the Marriot Elysium is no more, though her fun loving, crass, and outgoing demeanor have changed somewhat of late. Tina has been more withdrawn and sullen, and seems to be questioning the direction her unlife has been headed. During slow hours at the Rant, she can sometimes be spotted reading books on new age spiritualism and the paranormal.

Kafka Durden: Durden is a popular guy in the city. Tall, well, muscled, a good fighter, owner of the Rant, and rather personable in a rough and unfinished way, Durden has gathered a moderate size following of younger Brujah and Gangrel, as well as a good deal of street influence and influence with the other clans. Durden has minor status with the camarilla, but despite this, and a few signs that he might be older than the punk scene he plays at being a part of, he seems uninterested in politics or the games of elders, preferring a good party and the occassional brawl. But despite his seeming good nature and lack of interest in politics, his popularity amongst the Brujah may force a confrontation with Tony for control of the clan.

Marion: Sire of Tony D'Angelo, and former primogen of the clan early in the city's history, Marion is a brujah to be reckoned with. Seen mostly dozing in court, or walking slowly through his recently opened art museum while supported by his cane, Marion is, despite appearances, a whirlwind of death when threatened. Mastery of all of the disciplines of his clan only achievable with the aid of potent blood, along with incredible resources and influence to pull from make Marion a terrifying enemy. Fortunately for the city, Marion is an old friend of Claudius who has stayed in the city to look after it in Claudius' absence and to investigate the death of his favorite childe. Marion has shown a great deal of dissapointment in the state of his clan, and has taken it upon himself to give the rabble more purpose and a code of honor to live by, but while his presence may ensure he is at least listened to, many brujah, when removed from his influence, want nothing to do with this elder and his silly ideas of chivalry and honor.

Tertius: An enigmatic elder, Tertius is in the city for a brief period, also supposedly at the request of Claudius. In his breif stay, he bested the Easterner, Talon, in single combat, and has shown himself to be at least as proficient as Marion in combat. Despite his violent introduction however, Tertius seems to be more of a travelling scholar, and has stated that his stay will likely be temporary. Tertius also brought several refugees with him when he came from Oklahoma City, which has had a great deal of hunter and lupine activity.

Toreador
Toreador Primogen Blake: Actually his last name, Blake claims relation to the famous poet. He teaches at the local college, and often throws large parties for not only the kindred, but the college students as well, which is where he acquired his ‘son’ a few years back. He is openly blood bound to the Malkavian Primogen, and they live together in his mansion. He is moody to the point of being bipolar, and is grandiose in everything he does. He appears to be in his late 20’s, but is thought to have been born in the 1800’s. He wears Victorian era clothing, modified to fit current fashion, and always in black. He wears his hair a bit past shoulder length (it is normally brown but he occasionally dyes it black), is clean shaven, 5’8”, 170lbs, is rather handsome, and many think that the Malkavian blood in his veins has driven him crazy (though rumors say his insanity is what attracted Erika in the first place).
2007 update: During Claudius' mysterious journey during the Sabbat war, on which he took Blake's partner, the Malkavian elder Erika, Blake slipped into a torpor from which none have been able to awaken him. His half-childe, Jake, made every possible attempt to awaken him, along with his other childe George, the current primogen of clan Toreador. Oddly, several malkavians have reported having brief but meaningful conversations with Blake since the onset of his torpor. Before leaving, Claudius hid the bodies of Blake and Erika both, in order to protect them from diablerie, and some say, to protect the world from them should they awaken.

Harpy/Keeper of Elysium Anita Fallin: A throwback to an older era, Anita would be more at home in a noir film than the modern day. It is rumored she was a famous singer, but that she was forced to stop singing by a justicar when she stayed in the public eye for too long. She runs the starlight, where she occasionally sings, and maintains an atmosphere right out of a Carry Grant movie. She is quite attractive, appears to be 25, and is the prototype from which WASP came. Blond, blue eyes, 5’3’’, 110lbs, cute, charming, and disarming, she usually wears a dress in a conservative but flattering cut in whatever colors are fashionable at the time (but usually bright). She has a coquettish demeanor, is nice to nearly everyone (to their face), and the girl everyone wants to talk to and be liked by. Oh, and she utterly hates Tessa, for unknown reasons.
2007 update: Anita seems to be much happier now that the city has calmed down, Tessa has left, she has a new Ventrue harpy to aid her, and she is one of the more powerful elders in the city. With the renovations she has made to her club, her connections with several up and coming young toreador, and her branching out into the entertainment industry again, it appears that Anita might just be joining the modern world.

Catherine:

Malkavian
Malkavian Primogen Erika: Erika is a mousy looking woman that is usually seen in dresses that cover as much of her body as possible. She is 5’1”, with brown hair worn at shoulder length, average features, and is truly unstable. Though she is usually very timid, she can be come violently angry in the blink of an eye. Little is known about her background, but the few times she has been seen with less clothing, viewers report many scars across her body. She has displayed many different mental disorders, including mpd, schizophrenia, and obsessive tendencies, but how much of what she sees and does is due to insanity, and how much due to her second sight, is unclear. She is openly blood bound to Blake, and takes primary responsibility for their ‘son’, who they mutually embraced several years ago. Having a childe seemed to stabilize her somewhat, but how long that will last is unknown.
2007 Update: After the return from her journey with Claudius, Erika's sanity, and her legs, were both gone. As no one would reveal what happened on their journey, one can only assume that the elders met with something powerful and terrible. Upon returning to the city, Erika was taken care of by her childe, whom she formed an unhealthy relationship with in the absence of her partner, Blake. Still on edge during the start of the Technocratic conflict, Erika helped to defeat several Black Spiral Dancers by causing them to tear one another apart in a spontaneous bout of madness, after which she drug herself through the streets with her hands and the stubs of her legs, causing insanity and those around her and feeding indescriminately. Seeing the state to which she had degenerated, Claudius had her staked and hidden before he himself left.

Jake: The childe of both the Toreador and the Malkavian Primogen. He seems to see things occasionally, and is rather childlike in behavior sometimes, but whether the later is due to inclination or is simply acting to please his domineering mother is unknown. He serves as an occasional assistant to Jacob.
2007 update: Jake, as whip to clan Malkavian, took over for his sire Erika when she was gone, but due to the trauma of the loss of Blake, and seeing Erika reduced to a crippled monster, Jake was unable to continue with his responsibilities as primogen; instead he ceded his position to Carson and attempted to find some means of helping his 'parents', but with little success. Jake seems to be coping better now however. He has been seen amongst several other kindred, and meeting with the prince at the Starlight. His derangement, a fear of darkness and what appear to be hallucinations, also seems to have calmed down in recent nights.

Job: Malkavian that came to the city roughly 5yrs ago. He seems to be under the delusion that he knows the will of god, and he is in charge of some sort of church.
2007 update: Things haven't gone too well for Job. He participated lightly in the Sabbat war, defending his church against the roaming war parties until it was burnt to the ground with all his followers. Since then, Job began acquiring a cult following of homeless individuals, but that was quickly stopped by a confrontation with lupine street walkers, a conflict from which Job barely escaped with his unlife. Since then he has been involved in several money making schemes and a great deal of petty crime that has gone poorly, usually losing him more money than he made in the end. Currently, he walks the streets at night, apparently has aquired severe burns that are healing poorly, and calls out to god, the devil, or anyone that will listen. His days are spent hiding in dumpsters and abandoned buildings. Many neonates, seeing the homeless, dirty, insane malkavian talking to himself, make jokes about him to one another, while being silently thankful that they don't have to live with Job's dark fate.

Nosferatu
Nosferatu Primogen Nicolo Medici: Actually rather new, he replaced the previous primogen who went off on a ‘vacation’ with one of the eastern kindred (not affiliated with the current group) and who was never heard from since. Nicolo prefers to go by ‘Nick’ and has made a point of his European heritage. He is a purveyor of fine art, and seems to take a great deal of interest in the humanitarian causes in the city, using his fortune to help a great number of people, though many kindred think his constant moralizing and his primadona attitude are obnoxious (the young often confuse him for a Toreador). It is unknown whether he is a relatively young kindred, or if he is actually from the Medici family of the renaissance, and his true appearance is likewise unkown (though he is usually finely dressed and handsome).
2007 update: Nick has been industrious of late, taking over the spot of seneschal in Tessa's absence, expanding his clan, and making strides to control the media industry across the Northwest coast. Many assume that Nick is the actual prince of the city and Jacob but a puppet, as it has become known that he is fairly old, and much more politically savy than the current prince. Nick has been an invaluable resource for the city, helping to renegotiate contracts with the lupines, investigate problems, quash masquerade breaches in the media, and even on occassion to aid in major battles. The prestation owed him is unknown, but many neonates, and even some elders, tread lightly around this well connected and powerful Nosferatu disguised as a mild mannered Toreador.

The thunderheads: Werewolf group that parties at the Elysium. One female, three males. They seem amused by vampires, and though they start a few fights, they generally get along alright with the Brujah and the Gangrel

Shadow: One of several vampire groupies in the mage community, she was captured by the Eastern Kindred, while Nick worked for her release. After the situation (which created tension between mages, easterners and westerners) resolved, Shadow was released seemingly unharmed but greatly changed. She still hangs around, but is now much more withdrawn.

And many, many more.

By reason of my paltry writing skills and GM approval the "transition" (critical shift for those who play Feng Shui) have had the following affects on Stone and Sasha.

Sasha is no longer of the Kindred though she is still associated with the Tremere. She is also still very independent and likely rogue at the moment

Stone is an active duty member of the City's police force, part of the SWAT division with frequent loans to homicide due to past experience dealing with the "weird stuff". He also is no longer of the Kindred but has been made Tremere by Sasha, just like before. Also he is hunting for information as to her whereabouts and activities.

I value Knowledge, logic, and deceit. I love to pursue wisdom but also to manipulate and deceive. At my best, I am brilliant and progressive. At my worst, I am treacherous and cold. My symbol is a water droplet. My enemies are green and red.
